I want Tivo!

I've decided I want Tivo. Like, really bad.

Only I'm not sure how much Tivo I need. I have a bad feeling that if I don't shell out for the super-duper 140-hour box I'll end up regretting it. I mean, sure, I don't really watch all that many TV shows right now, but once I no longer have deal with remembering when stuff's on and setting VCRs and finding tapes and all that bullshit I suspect I'll suddenly develop a burning need to watch The O.C. every week. And all the CSIs. And Without a Trace. And I'll never miss an episode of The Daily Show again just because I want to go to bed. Not to the mention all the new shows I could potentially end up addicted to, like Joey and Jack & Bobby and Desperate Housewives. And I could start catching the reruns of all those shows I skipped in first-run, like Buffy and Angel. And of course there are the shows I'd want to save indefinitely--WW (yes, I still watch that damn show even though it mostly sucks), GG, Scrubs, most of the Adult Swim lineup. Not to mention all the munchkin's favorite cartoons--it's good to have some Teen Titans on hand for emergencies.

Geez, do they make, like, a 500-hour box? 'Cause I think that's what I'm gonna need. And that's without even having any of the premium channels. Can you imagine if we actually had HBO and Showtime?

I just got my Tivo last week and I looooove it.

Right now Tivo has a $100 mail-in rebate, and amazon.com's got the cheapest deals on the series 2 Tivos. If you're gonna do it, now's the time! :)

I know, I saw that! It's tempting, but unfortunately now's not the greatest time money-wise. I think I'm just going to have to yearn until after Christmas. Maybe there'll be another rebate then.

So how many hours does yours have? I'm wondering if I could get by with the 80-hour.

I got the 40-hour one, cause I'm cheap. And, cause, well, I have a DVD-recorder. *g*

I'll probably have to share the Tivo with Mr. Sus and the munchkin, so I'm thinking I'll need more space. Also I'm a total TV pack rat. *g*

Let's say I wanted to get a Tivo. Do I have to have digital cable? Time Warner makes a DVR now, but I think you gotta go digital to get it.

Do I have to have digital cable?

No, but I'm considering switching because there's a slight decrease in picture quality with all the digital/analog conversion going on.

Interesting. Will keep that in mind.

Oh god. Seriously, if you get TiVo, we will never leave your house. Ever. Mr. Sus will have to go out and bring us food.

Maybe we can build a fort in your living room...

Totally. The munchkin could help us with the fort thing.

So if I do get Tivo will you finally quit your job and move into my guest room?

Yeah, dude. Does Mr. Sus need an assistant? Or will we just hang out all day?

Can I bring Charo and Ivy?

Mr. Sus doesn't need an assistant, but you could be our au pair. We could only offer you room and board, of course. And Tivo!

Charo and Ivy are more than welcome. You could even bring your Alias DVDs, as long as you don't watch them when Mr. Sus is around (or be prepared to suffer the wrath of his mocking).

Oh, I always prepare for the mocking. But when he mocks my Michael Vartan (he is *not* TwigBoy!), I draw the line.

I'll be the au pair. I heart the munchkin. But I gotta have some spending money. Looks like I'll have to resort to pole-dancing. Again. Sigh.

WW (yes, I still watch that damn show even though it mostly sucks)

I do too. I can't give it up just yet. It's a disease.

Well, at least you can get more use out of those hot pants austin. ;)
