I'll take "Gay Cowboys" for 100, Alex

Here they are, just a few hours under the wire, my Oscar predictions. I approached it a little differently this year and just went with my first instinct. Usually I'm mad for the Oscars and spend hours researching and reading predictions throughout the blogosphere before formulating my guesses, but this year I'm not so much into it. And I've barely seen any of the nominated films, so I can't even begin to compose a list of ideal noms and winners.

Yeah, I'm with you on this list. Though I think that Reese Whitherspoon will win and Ryan Phillippe will have yet another chance to make a fool out of himself in front of all kinds of people that are more talented than he is. But I don't want Reese to win.

I'm not planning on watching it. The hype has just been too much for me. I've got a book to finish and there's going to be a new Mythbusters on at 9. :)

I'd say there's no way Brokeback won't win adpated screenplay. And although it deserves it, I'm no longer sure it will win best pic. Crash mught snag it, even though I didn't feel it should have even been nominated.

Girl, I'll make you a chocolate-filled bundt next time I'm in TX even if you don't win. Which...you didn't. ;) But I didn't either. I'd have been happier with your picks winning.

I wonder if your "meh" approach to this year's picks, which I share (still haven't seen Walk the Line or Munich), adds evidence to the fact that no movie won more than three Oscars--it's just not a stellar year. I liked BBM and would have been happy for it to win several, but I don't feel white-hot passion about it (I blame Jake Gyllenhaal). Here's hoping next year makes us feisty.
