Wow, ya'll, 30 Rock was not funny. I'm not sure what happened there, because I'm pretty sure Tina Fey can write better than that. And what was the deal with the tri-vection oven thing? Seriously, I thought they made it up until they showed a commercial for the damn thing. They're mocking NBC/GE at the same time as they're whoring Tina Fey out to sell stoves? The hell?

I finally got around to watching this week's Heroes, which was slightly less clunky, thanks to Jeph Loeb's writing on this episode. I only wish he was the showrunner and not Tim Kring, and then maybe I could bring myself to care more. I still want Porn Mom and Invincible Cheerleader to Just. Go. Away. Porn Mom, because she takes her kid with her to bury dead bodies in the desert. And Invincible Cheerleader for having two accidents in two weeks that would have been fatal to anyone sans superpowers (not even counting the Gross Disposer Incident). What. Ever.

The new fall season is so uninspiring that Studio 60 is honestly the best new show I've seen, for all its flaws.

Awww! I like Claire (cheerleader girl). But really, I'm mostly in it for Hiro. I heart Hiro. *g*

Hiro is love. And I really like the hot Indian guy. And the tortured artist. I even like Milo "Not Jess Anymore" Ventimiglia.

D'oh! HOw could I not mention Hot Indian Guy?! And his cute pixie sidekick. Especially since they're the only people with a storyline that's moving along anywhere.

The jury is still out on Jess, though. He needs to show me why I should care if he falls or flies.

I'm glad I didn't race home to set my Tivo for 30 Rock, then. As always, I defer to you for all things television.

I didn't see the second ep of Heroes, but I heard it wasn't totally awesome. Ringo is still holding it for me.

Did you watch Friday Night Lights or was that dutch38?

I caught a rerun of Friday Night Lights. It was exceptionally well done, I thought, but since football and god aren't subjects that move me I only liked it okay. But I was totally excited to recognize EZ's (which was started up by a football player from my alma mater)!

I'm enjoying Friday Night Lights, probably because I tend to freebase football this time of year... but that hand-held cam shit has *got* to stop before it triggers a migraine.

30 Rock is coming on Bravo right now. I can already tell that I like Studio 60 much better... and that's not saying a whole lot, Sarah Paulson aside.

ETA: A few minutes in, and MAN this show sucks. We lost Tina Fey at the news desk for this crap?

It's awful, isn't it? I mean, really BAD. I don't how they did it, but they made Tina Fey suck.

But....
Michael Ausiello is already proclaiming that Studio 60 isn't going to make it past its 13 promised episodes. Aaron's going to have to do better than Josh/Mandy retread to make me passionate, in spite of the Bradley and Matt HoAy. I mean, its entertaining enough to but when its over I don't know what it was about.

So I guess the new fall shows are in trouble?!? I like "Heroes," hate Porn Mom, love Hiro.

But I'm waiting to hear your thoughts on Veronica and BSG. I'm BEGGING to hear your thoughts on BSG.

Besides FatApollo, that is :)

Re: But....
I think if we'd never watched a Sorkin show before, Studio 60 would probably seem a lot better. As it is, I'm liking it fairly well, though nowhere near as much as I loved SN or TWW.

I'd basically watch anything that starred BW and MP, though, and (sinking ratings aside) compared to most of the other new shows it's at the head of the pack. I am so sick of shows about self-destructive, self-absorbed yuppies and their extramarital affairs I could vomit (Brothers & Sisters, Six Degrees, and What About Brian, I'm looking at you). Could we go back to last season where all the new shows were ultra-violent serial killer gore-fests, because I think I actually liked that better.

I like parts of Heroes a lot, but I wish the writing was subtler and the production values were better. I'm so spoiled by the production values on shows like Lost and TWW that shows like Heroes end up looking like amateur hack jobs by comparison.

The premiere of Veronica was total love, in every way. Episode two was possibly the worst episode to date. Woah, was it bad. Here's hoping the rest of the season comes out more like episode one and not like episode two.

BSG is full of awesome, although based on EJO's comments at Comic-con I have a feeling it's going to be hard to watch as the season unspools. And if they killed Roslin, I may actually die.

So, what'd you think???

Re: But....
I'm with you on Roslin. I have avoided spoilers like the plague for BSG but as soon as I saw the premiere, I went scrambling for the TWOP boards. I didn't really get answers, but I realized that if she died, she died and I'd have to deal. Or die. They can have a double-funeral for both of us. Ron Moore likes to bring the Pain. But I'm in love with the show. LOVE, not LoVe :) Count me with the resident masochists who will stick it out.

I loved the VM SP; haven't seen the latest yet but the vibes I'm getting aren't great. I'm ready for Logan to be well, Logan again.

Heroes is fun and I like having something new to watch so much that I'm forgiving it a lot of sins. I like NotJess and Hiro. Mangle the Cheerleader is getting old. Next! I know what you mean by production values, though. Since NBC has given it a full-season pick-up order and its is winning the 18-49 demo, maybe they'll float them some more money :)

Angsty yuppies and their neuroses are not my cuppa. If I want soap opera, I'll turn on Grey's because at least they have Bailey to balance out Mere/Dere.

I am trying not to be left behind on the "good" shows, unlike previous years. Am watching Studio 60 and enjoying it. Watched 30 Rock and "meh". So I should track down Heroes and Friday Night Lights? (Slate had a thumbs up for the latter.)
Question- if I never saw VM before, could I start this season and follow it/like it?
