At least we've still got Starbucks

Still no power at Chez Sus. I'm posting from my iPhone, sitting on the driveway because 3G is spotty in the house. The good news is we don't have to boil our drinking water anymore. The bad news is the power company has gone from saying they'll have 75% of the city's power on by Friday to saying they hope to have 50 - 75% on by next Tuesday. At this point I can barely remember what it's like to have electricity in your house. Also, I've spent more time talking to my neighbors in the last four days than in the six years we've lived here.

Today was almost normal. Mr. Sus went back to work (at an interim location since some of the windows were blown out on his floor and there was a lot of water damage). The munchkin went back to school even though they only have power in some of the school's buildings. And I managed to find a grocery store with power! No dairy or meat, but everything else was pretty much business as usual. I also stopped at an open Starbucks for a pumpkin spice latte and a Chick-fil-A for a gigantic sweet iced tea. God bless styrofoam cups--I nursed that thing all day long. I think cold drinks are thing I've missed most. Four days of lukewarm beverages is too many for cililized humans.

Tonight we're going out in search of an open restaurant. I hear Fuddrucker's might have power.
