So two weeks ago the munchkin sprained her ankle at camp. It was a pretty bad sprain, but it seemed to heal up pretty fast and she's been running and jumping and skipping around the house on it for a while now. So, with the doctor's permission, she started gymnastics lessons yesterday. And sprained her OTHER ankle. Yep. Poor kid. So now she's an invalid again, although it doesn't seem as bad as the last sprain so I'm thinking she'll be on her feet again soon. I hope so, because she starts school again Monday. And it's a good thing I've been doing yoga again, because carrying a 50-lb kid around the house is no easy task for a weakling like me. Oy!

Oh, poor kid. Do you have a local sports-med clinic? I ask because general practice docs will say "Rest and don't walk on it until it's fully healed", which is all well and good but takes twice as long as therapy. I used to be a sports trainer, and with minimal effort, you can rehab and ankle fairly quickly.

I forgot to add that continuing to sprain ankles is not uncommon without some measure of re-hab. That's because your body loses it perio-perception fairly quickly with lack of use. If you don't make efforts to re-train it, you keep spraining because you brain has a slightly "off" connection with where your foot is. Again, there are simple exercises that a trainer could show you.

Thanks, I'll definitely look into it. I think I've seen a sports rehab clinic next to the munchkin's swim school.
