It's done and I did it!

The cunning hat is a little too small for Mr. Sus's head, so I think I'm going to keep this one for myself and make another one for him that's a little bigger. It's such a cinch to knit that I should be able to get the second one done before the Serenity premiere on September 30 so we can wear our hats and look like fools together!

Very cool!

I definitely think you should wear them to the premiere.

Thanks! :)

Could I perhaps commission you to make one for a friend of mine? When I told her you were making on for Mr. Sus, she was all, "That is AWESOME!"

Sure. I'll have to order more yarn, though. Email me and we'll work out the details.

Cool, will email you later.

Now...to work out how to measure her head without her noticing...heh.

Average for women is, I think, around 21" or 22". I think I'm a bit closer to 23". I tried to make this one even bigger to fit Mr. Sus, but I think the hat looks better when it's pretty loose.

Awesome! And yes, you gotta wear it to the premiere. I wish we could all go together!

Me too! I'd love to have some Firefly fans around me to enjoy the movie with. Other than Mr. Sus, that is.

I know! I think that's why I've been doing so many hats--instant gratification.

Nice hat! Though I gotta say... the munchkin is way cuter than the hat.

The hat is really quite atrocious. But that's sorta the point, I guess. The munchkin, on the other hand, manages to look adorable in anything.

I love how the munchkin continues to be your model. What a cutie.

Is knitting easy? I've never tried it, but I've always wanted to learn. Maybe you should bring some yarn ("Set fire to the loom, do it now.") to Austin when you come in a couple of weeks.

It's kinda tricky at first, but once you get the knack of it, it's quite simple and pleasingly repetitive. It can be kinda hard to learn out of a book, but I've been teaching the munchkin and she's already a champ at casting on. She hasn't quite mastered the knit stitch, but I don't think her fingers are quite long enough yet.

I'll totally add yarn and needles to my list of things to bring with me.

Yarn Barn
You two should totally drive down to San Antonio and go to the Yarn Barn. Man, we used to mock that place in college, but that was before I was on the receiving end of a cunning hat and (hint hint) perhaps one day a Dr. Who scarf (Thom Baker version)!

This is not the greatest pug in the world...
This is just a tribute.
