I won't go into a laundry list of the awful dialogue or the ridiculous plot holes, because they're too numerous. But it is obvious that no one connected with this show actually remembers 1986. Their way of evoking the past is to gratuitously cram the soundtrack and dialogue with overly-obvious '80s music. I mean, the show actually starts with an image of the six characters hugging in their graduation gowns to "Don't You Forget About Me." And then later, two characters argue about whether or not Wham is the next Beatles. I. Am. Not. Lying.
It's trying so hard to be "The O.C." meets St. Elmo's Fire and fails so spectacularly at it that it's just painful to watch. And not really in that so-bad-it's-good way, either.
