Jesus was not a zombie!

Okay, I feel kinda dirty saying this, but I LOVED tonight's Bones. I know, I know, back when I saw the preview I was all, they're going to marginalize and misrepresent the heritage of that proud and devastated city for the sake of a lame-ass crime drama with semi-witty banter and I do not approve! But I take it back, now. Sorry, NOLA, but it was sooooo worth it.

The Angela/Hodgins scene was a little out of left-field and kinda anvil-like, but still cute. It's not like he hasn't been acting like he's had the hots for her all season, but suddenly it was like, "I've got a major pining love crush on her and I'm gonna go be all sweet and sensitive and complimentary all over her so everyone knows it."

The NOLA stuff was decently tasteful and the voodoo story was no more egregious than any other depiction of voodoo in movies or television, so I'm letting it slide. At least they used some actual voodoo terms correctly. Okay, some of the depictions were a little over-the-top (real New Orlineans don't actually go around everywhere ordering beignets and calling everyone 'chere'). But they countered it with lots of voodoo jokes and self-mocking snark to let us know that they were perfectly aware of how lame a lot of it was.

"Everyone quit saying voodoo!"
"This whole state of affairs where Brennan runs around fighting crime? It's just stupid."

Oh, and the whole "Catholicism is no different than voodoo" conversation was brilliant and made it all so totally worth it.

Totally worth it.

"You're just saying that because you've been inculcated into the Judeo-Christian worldview."
