Jesus was not a zombie!

Okay, I feel kinda dirty saying this, but I LOVED tonight's Bones. I know, I know, back when I saw the preview I was all, they're going to marginalize and misrepresent the heritage of that proud and devastated city for the sake of a lame-ass crime drama with semi-witty banter and I do not approve! But I take it back, now. Sorry, NOLA, but it was sooooo worth it.

I'm a little torn, because the feminist in me doesn't like the female lead to be relegated to the role of constantly needing to be saved.

You're really right about that. Which is funny because it happens to her all the time in the books, so it should be happening even more in the show. :s This ep I liked how she kept control of the situation. And also how Booth didn't treat her like a victim. He was helping and protecting his colleage/friend/lover, and demanded respect for her from everyone else.

You know, blow Booth up with a refrigerator so she's all protective about him in the hospital, but then have him limp in to save her from the serial killer at the end. Everyone wins!

Whee! Just to mix it up next time they should make it a washing machine. Or dishwasher, maybe. To keep it real, you know. Or if they HAVE to blow up her fridge again, at least make it a naked fridge raid a la "I Will Remember You." *tsk*

Bwahaha! Oh god someone pull me back to my thesis today.

You're right, this ep hit just the right notes. For one thing, he never really saved her, just acted appropriately supportive and concerned without ever being patronizing. Plus, you totally could have switched their roles in this episode and it would have worked out about the same. Her being a victim had nothing to do with her sexuality or her gender, and in fact she wasn't much of a victim because she fought and escaped all on her very own and Booth only showed up afterwards to cluck fetchingly over her bruises. *swoon*

Or if they HAVE to blow up her fridge again, at least make it a naked fridge raid a la "I Will Remember You." *tsk*
