Jesus was not a zombie!

Okay, I feel kinda dirty saying this, but I LOVED tonight's Bones. I know, I know, back when I saw the preview I was all, they're going to marginalize and misrepresent the heritage of that proud and devastated city for the sake of a lame-ass crime drama with semi-witty banter and I do not approve! But I take it back, now. Sorry, NOLA, but it was sooooo worth it.

I'm a little torn, because the feminist in me doesn't like the female lead to be relegated to the role of constantly needing to be saved. On the other hand, I never love Boreanaz as much as when he's being all noble and protective and rushing in to save the day.

But I don't like Brennan (it's freakin' Dr. Suess, lady!). So isn't having her get beaten up *and* having Booth be adorable really the best of both worlds? I might be able to suspend my rules of feminist engagement in that case. ;)

Precisely. You can enjoy seeing her get the crap knocked out of her, and then delight in watching him be all sensitive and concerned afterwards. Fun for the whole family!

And I have to say, she seems to be loosening up a bit lately and becoming a tad more likable. It's a slow process, and they still tend to throw in the occasional absurdity a la "I don't know who the Grinch is", but she's getting better. I'd even go so far as to say she was downright human in the episode where Angela's boyfriend goes missing. And did you see the one where she was dancing to Foreigner? Foreigner!
