I'm gonna join everyone else on my flist in complaining about the cold. It is freezing here. Literally, which is rare. And hard on a poor Southern girl like me. Although, it's much milder than they were originally predicting, which is good. Monday night the local media were all a-panic with dire predictions of ice storms in the night. Roads were being sanded, intersections closed and schools announced closures preemptively. And then nothing. But last night the predictions started anew and we actually got some ice so the schools are legitimately closed today.

Fortunately for me, I'm snuggled up in the fuzzy socks dutch38 and jt76 gave me, sipping the Penzey's hot cocoa that bgirlla gave me. Life is good.

:raises eyebrow: Really. Some ice. Well. Y'all stay home now, y'hear? ;) We've had two major snowstorms in the last three weeks, and both times driving home from work on a major surface street was the most scared I've ever been driving. Not a fun, sexy time.

It was literally -6 when I came to work this morning. Aren't you glad you won't be standing outside in Sundance lines now?

I would also like to point out the East Coast bias in the news--I actually heard a national news anchor last night talk about how there hadn't been a winter yet this year. I also love how the cold is being used as an argument against global warming. Because systems operate independently of each other, of course. The biting of me may commence.

I know, we're wusses. Then again, you haven't experienced fear until you've tried to drive in icy conditions with a bunch of fool Southerners on the road who don't know nothin' 'bout drivin' on no ice.

No winter. Right. Tell that to Colorado.

But they are right as far as us Right Coasters. I still had grass in the yard until last weekend.
