The reason I haven't been updating much lately has not so much been because I've been mad productive with the writing, but rather because I've been madly leveling my characters in Lord of the Rings Online. And because I'm a crack dealer, I thought I'd point out that the game is in open beta right now until April 24th, which means you can go to their web site (http://www.lotro.com/) and sign up to give it a try for free until the game goes live. I'm just saying.

Seriously, the geography in the game is amazing and the attention to detail is truly impressive. Anyone who's a real fan of the books will have a great time just running around seeing the sights. And the quest system is phenomenal. They did a great job coming up with quests that are engaging, fit seamlessly into the world, and intersect wonderfully with the plot of the books.

So far the game only includes Eriador, but I've already been all over the Shire, the Breelands, the Old Forest and the Barrow Downs. And yesterday, Mr. Sus and I decided to run our level 15 characters to Angmar just to see if we could do it. We got all of 50 meters into the pass before we were killed by a fire drake. Apparently one does not simply walk into Angmar, either. Good times.

Oh, and thanks to everyone who voted in my poll to help me decide which server to play on. Unfortunately, the servers that ya'll picked were two of the most crowded, so instead I chose Landroval, which was the name of one of Gwaihir's eagles. If any of ya'll do give the game a try, go for that server and shoot me an email--I'll send you some newbie weapons to help get you started.
